NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
