Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While playing web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He often competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
