No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
