Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While competing in internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
