Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While competing in internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.
