Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
