Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
